Bible Studies - Books of the Bible
Coffee Cup Series by Sandra Glahn
- The Coffee Cup Series, is a series of studies for women. Each focusing on a different book of the Bible in a compact, workbook format.
Each study is designed to be read over a 4-6 week period, and study sections are broken down into short, daily segments.
Each book contains all the Scriptures in the NET translation.
Espresso With Esther is by far the best study I've ever done on the book of Esther. Sandra Glahn not only takes you through and in-depth study of Esther, but includes the context of Esther (Nehemiah and Ezra) and has some wonderful discussion starter questions. The daily / weekly segments were nice little chunks, making it easy to get through. And with the college women, we had our "homework" during the week. Then we worked through the discussion questions when we met each week and had some great discussions.
Doctrinally: I have run into very little to question. I believe that's because the author sticks to the Word so closely and really focuses these studies on Scriptures. The NET translation does fine in these historical sections of Scriptures. And we would keep our NIV close at hand to read as well.
I have also studied through Java with Judges, Cappuccino with Colossians, and Mocha on the Mount. I found all of these to be wonderful studies. Especially if you really want to finally remember all those Judges. Sandra Glahn has a whole series of books.
